Two lone Nobodies sit on top of the Twilight Town clock tower. Their names are Axel and Roxas, whom you might recognize from Organization XIII. Axel is the pyromaniac with red hair, and Roxas is the keyblade warrior with blond hair.

Roxas sits down with his legs hanging off the ledge, while Axel stands up to look across the golden horizon. The sun dims into a bright red, cascading an assortment of rainbow colors into the nearly cloudless sky.

“You know,” Axel starts and pauses to look down at his fellow companion who has his eyes up to him. “I’d rather not be anywhere but here.”

His gaze returns back to the beautiful sight.

“Yeah,” Roxas follows his partner so his eyes go toward the sunset. “It really is breath-taking.”

Axel – unknowingly to Roxas – turns his head and loses himself in the two pools of blue serenity. He mumbles a response. “I know.”

The redhead moves to sit down with Roxas to watch the sunset together and his gaze returns to just looking straight. He knows that Roxas does not want to be with the Organization anymore, but doesn’t comment on it. Perhaps he could find the missing pieces for the holes that are there. A comfortable silence falls over, and Axel shifts his leg so one is against his chest and the other one is hanging down. His gloved hand rests over the one against his chest and a contented sigh leaves his lips.

The sound of his name breaks the silence.

“Axel?”

“Hm?”

“Do you think we’ll ever get our hearts back?” Roxas asks quietly, still looking straight ahead when the taller Nobody turns his head to look at him. Then he gains the courage to look back into the two fiery green eyes that he adored so much.

“Maybe. I don’t know.” Axel is reluctant with his answer. “I’m not entirely sure what the Superior is up to though.”

“When I get my heart back, I want to experience all the emotions that humans have. Sorrow, anger, contentment, happiness, maybe even…love.” The blond whispers the last part. “I heard it was one of the best feelings you could ever have.”

“Perhaps.”

Even with the want of hearts back, when Axel looks into his companion’s eyes, he doesn’t need to be anywhere but with him, heart or no heart.
